PERSONALITY
Oakstorm is an energetic and hard-working tom who prides himself on his steadfastness. He lives to accomplish his own personal goals and will become stressed and anxious when he cannot live up to his promises. This strong, unstoppable will to carry through his plans gives him the part of his personality he is most well known for – his stubbornness. Inflexible and single-minded, it is rare for Oakstorm to change his mind once it is made up. Although he means well, this aspect of his character can lead him into conflict with others, or even lead to detriment his own personal health. Oakstorm is the kind of tom who, if he says he will do something, will not sleep or eat until he has accomplished it. He’s loyal to the core and tries to put the clan before everything else but has little patience for those who clash with him on more than one occasion.
While Oakstorm is intelligent and sensible but is known for making rash decisions. He will rush to reach a conclusion and put a plan into motion. Swift decisions and actions may sometimes be needed, and Oakstorm would be a fine cat to have in such situations, but his unstoppable need to plunge directly into situations with only minimal amount of thought has gotten him into more trouble than necessary.
Oakstorm is not the kind of tom to be shy or quiet, or comfortable with being a background noise. He’s a social character, and prefers being in the middle of a group of friends rather than being on his own.If he has an opinion, it will be heard. If he dislikes you, you’ll know about it. The large tom is friendly enough and surprisingly caring and gentle with younger clan members.
HISTORY
Oak-kit and Eaglekit were born during one of the worst leaf-bares Stoneclan had ever seen. Prey was scarce and even the depths of the nursery were frigid as Honeycloud, the newborns’ mother, and the clan medicine cat fought desperately to save the life of the third and smallest kit of the litter. Sadly, their efforts were for nought and the small scrap of brown fur slipped out of life almost as soon as she had entered it. Fortunately, Oak-kit and Eaglekit were larger and stronger than their sister and survived.
Honeycloud fiercely loved her two remaining kits and scarcely let them out of her sight before they became apprentices. Thus, Oak-kit and Eaglekit never managed to go off on little adventures outside of the camp or to get into much trouble. Their kit days were spent chasing each other around the camp and pestering apprentices with their questions about what warrior-life was like. Their father, Rabbitfur, would visit the kits frequently and was incredibly proud of his two strong sons.
Rabbitfur and Honeycloud had had a previous litter of which the only survivor was a she-kit, Kesteralpaw, who was currently one of the older apprentices. When Oak-kit and Eaglekit were born, Rabbitfur and Honeycloud began to ignore Kestrelpaw, much to her irritation, and in response she disliked Oak-kit and Eaglekit. While Eaglekit was hurt by Kestrelpaw’s constant jibes and general coldness, Oak-kit secretly admired and revered his strong elder sister. Kestrelpaw was named Kestrelclaw soon before Oak-kit and Eaglekit’s own naming ceremony, and Oak-kit was in awe of her fighting strength and skill. Kestrelclaw in turn began to feel some affection for the small tom and asked the clan leader if she could be Oak-kit’s mentor when he was apprenticed. The clan leader agreed and Kestrelclaw became Oakpaw’s mentor a moon later.
Young Oakpaw spent his apprentice days in a fever of eagerness to learn. As a kit Oakpaw had been quiet and unsure of himself, but after a few moons as an apprentice it became clear that he was a quick learner and a dedicated student. Oakpaw excelled quickly, and Kestrelclaw was extra dedicated to training her little brother into a capable fighter. However, the more time they spent together, the more clear it was the Oakpaw and Kestrelclaw had very similar personalities. And when two resolute and determined personalities clash, the clash is difficult to overcome. Kestrelclaw had always been an ambitious she-cat, and her ambition was rubbing off onto Oakpaw, who took an active interest in the way Kestrelclaw was positioning herself to become the next deputy. His admiration of her turned into envy, and eventually contempt as he began to fully master the techniques he had been taught and began to feel that he would make a much better candidate than Kestrelclaw. The two started to disagree on minor things which led to larger arguments, and Oakpaw’s practice spars with Kestrelclaw were starting to feel more and more like real fights.
It was Eaglepaw who opened Oakpaw’s eyes by pointing out to him that, while Kestrelclaw had the confidence and ambition of a leader, her harsh and inflexible character kept her from being well-liked. Oakpaw realized that he wasn’t cut out to lead a clan – he was a warrior and a loyal follower. It was this realization that separated him for Kestrelclaw, who continued to strive blindly towards her ambitions with the same brute force of a full-on attack, never thinking that taking a different tack may help her to reach her goals.
Oakpaw was named Oakstorm on the same day as his brother, Eaglestripe. He has since been content with his life as a warrior but has set himself the long term goal of being worthy of being chosen as deputy, even if he never is.

APPEARANCE
Oakstorm is a bulky, dark brown tabby. He’s a large tom, with big paws and a large circular and a thick, sturdy build. His face is circular and his ears wide and outward facing. As a big cat, Oakstorm has learned to put his weight and muscle to good use in a fight, and makes up for the lack of speed that comes with his size by channelling all his power into brutally strong offensives. He’s also quite good at taking a hit, and he won’t be knocked down easily unless his opponent matches him in strength.
His fur is short and well-kept. It grows out a little longer around the ruff of his neck and his belly during the colder moons, giving him a more shaggy and wild appearance when wet. His darker markings are a dark, deep brown that seems almost black but shows its true colour in patches of sunlight. The rest of his fur ranges from a light de-saturated brown, to the creamy beige the marks under his eye and around his muzzle. There are no obvious white patches, making him a solid tabby. His eyes are a pale amber ridged with a slightly darker golden colour around the edge of his irises.
Oakstorm has no clearly distinguishing scars or injuries. He tore a claw in his right paw as an apprentice, which took longer to heal than normal since he insisted on continuing to use his right paw to run and fight despite receiving strict orders from the medicine cat to rest it. Thus, Oakstorm’s gait tends to lean a little to the left, a left-over habit from the days where young Oakpaw tried to keep up with his mentor while trying to avoid too much pain from his paw hitting the ground.
