PERSONALITY
Ashstar has a reputation for being adaptable and quick-thinking. In times of conflict, she can create battle plans off the top of her head for nearly any situation. Also, Ashstar is extremely versatile when dealing with public diplomacy. Depending on which clan leader she is negotiating with, she will be flexible enough to work calmly with most of them. When wronged, however, she demonstrates how little she believes in forgiving and forgetting. Able to hold grudges for a long time, she most aptly displays this ability with the most recent development regarding Leafclan, as she is particularly aggressive towards that clan.
As a leader, Ashstar actually doesn't care much for rigid discipline, although she hesitates to advertise this fact. She honestly believes that a certain mischievousness, especially in younger cats, breathes life into the Clan. However, if a cat were to do anything that would endanger him or herself or Waveclan, Ashstar won't hesitate to dole out any number of consequences. When a warrior's behavior stops being harmless, Ashstar will take it upon herself to step in. And, if she is forced to do so, the perpetrator will not enjoy the punishment that follows.
Otherwise, Ashstar is rather easy-going as she doesn't see the point in making a mountain out of an anthill. She does not actively pursue conflicts or relationships with other clans, and prefers to keep Waveclan to themselves. But, she also cannot be mistaken for a doormat. If any cat attempts to push her around, Ashstar will be ready to prove that her claws — no matter how small —will hurt just as much as any other warrior's.
Pinefoot of Waveclan - [father]
HISTORY
From the moment she was born, Ashstar adored the water. As the only kit in her litter, she had her parents, Bluestripe and Pinefoot's, complete attentions. They taught her how fickle it was, calm one second and then raging the next. They taught her how it supplied them with food, how it provided the clan with a near endless supply of fish year round. They taught her about the dangers the water provided, how it could drag a cat under and drown them without a second thought. And, most importantly, they taught her to take pride in her affinity for water, that it was a trait unique to Waveclan and she should treasure that ability for the rest of her life. Obediently, Ashkit drank in all their stories with wide-eyes and an eager gaze. However, her parents passed away young. Pinefoot fell prey to the very ocean he had taught her daughter to love, a wild wave dashing him on the rocky shore violently before cradling him as tenderly as a mother would her own child as he drifted below the surface. Bluestripe, never quite getting over her mate, survived just long enough to see her daughter’s apprentice ceremony before following Pinefoot to his watery grave. During her grieving, Ashpaw would sneak out of camp to slip into the ocean whenever she could, feeling a particular closeness to her deceased parents in that time.
During her apprenticeship, she continued to visit the ocean whenever she could, even if it meant creeping through the territory under the dark blanket of nighttime. She would spend countless evenings paddling through the water. At first, she passed the time imagining her parents’ pelts brushing against hers as she swam. But, as the patient passage of time healed her bleeding heart, Ashpaw continued to visit the ocean simple because of her pure love for the water. Putting one paw in front of the other, she could cut through the waves as easily as though she was running on land, and there was no one, no mentor, no nosy elder, and no needy friend, to hold her back. She loved swimming and loathed to give it up for anything. Even drowsy mornings, hard from a lack of sleep, couldn’t stop her. After earning her warrior name, Ashdapple, however, she had very little time to enjoy traversing through the territory as she once had in her younger moons. But, she never forgot the wonderment and delight she felt every time she dived into the sea, and made sure to pass that excitement on to all the apprentices she trained.
Although Ashdapple was by no means particularly ambitious as a warrior, she exhibited her cleverness and astute attitude in a way that caught the previous leader's eye. So, not long after she finished training her first apprentice, Ashdapple was promoted to the deputy's position. At first, she found it impossibly stifling. Always having to coordinate patrols and look after her clanmates chained her to the camp; she very rarely had the time to enjoy Waveclan’s territory. And, for a while, she considered stepping down and allowing another warrior to take her place, Starclan knew there were a few who wanted to. But, just before she made a decision, Waveclan’s previous leader spoke to her privately. He offered her insight into his opinions, and, while not much of his speech stuck with her, Ashdapple never forgot one particular part of what he told her. He had suggested that if she learned to love Waveclan as much as she loved the water, looking after the clan would be much more rewarding. After hearing that, she felt, for the first time, a yearning to be the clan's leader.
So, when the previous leader eventually passed away, Ashstar willingly stepped up to take his place. Making her journey to the Moonstream, she found it fitting that the first life she was given was one of love.

APPEARANCE
Ashstar is a lithe, long-legged she-cat with the perfect build for racing across the territory in record time. Altogether, she is smaller than most cats, with delicate paws and a lack of visible musculature. But, her claws are large for her size, and startlingly so. In battle, they are her main weapons, and she is able to leave deep, jagged wounds if the situation calls for it. Her short fur has a grey base coat and is marled with black details that twist artistically over her pelt. Her sleek pelt, characteristic of her Waveclan lineage, defends her against water well, and she keeps it well groomed, not a hair out of place. Yet, Ashstar’s fur does little to defend her against the cold. Whenever leafbare rolls around, she can usually be found in a much fouler mood because of the icy breeze that infiltrates her fur to nip at her sensitive skin. Ashstar’s eyes are a plain amber color, but that certainly does not make them easy to forget. Intelligence swirls at the forefront of her eyes, and they glow with inquisitiveness as she eagerly observes all that goes on around her. But, as they are slanted in a way that leaves her stuck with a perpetual glare, she also has a tendency to appear testy or unimpressed, even at the most exciting of moments. Together, her pristine coat and piercing eyes helps her take command of a group despite her stature. Intimidation comes easily to Ashstar and really requires no more than her narrowing her eyes in order to make even the bravest of cats back down.
