Firepaw wasn't exactly following the rules though she wasn't exactly breaking them either. The little she-cat was agitated for here she was an apprentice of 11 moons and she had no mentor, she hadn't had any training! Though, her anger as misplaced for if she was actually thinking properly right now she would remember that she had been sick for a good deal of her kithood. Her apprenticeship had been delayed even after it had been a couple moons after she reached her sixth mark; She had practically been named 'paw' as she laid in the Medicine cat's den though that was just an exaggeration from her own mind. She hated the medicine cat's den, it smelled too sweet, it was too warm for her and most of all it was too dark. Way too much like the nursery which she was growing hateful of too. She hardly even slept in the apprentice's den, she much preferred sleeping outside of it where she felt less claustrophobic, even though the cave itself felt stifling to her at times.
It made all the difference now that she could come out here in the night when everyone was gone or sleeping, even as irritated as she was at not having a mentor yet she was delighted that she could finally find someplace to roam. Though she was told that her clan's territory was confusing for someone who had never seen it she didn't care, this was her home territory and she would learn it even if she had to learn it herself.
She would do anything to be free from those dens.
Getting out of the cave was easy, she told the warrior on guard that she was just going off to make dirt. By the time she planned on coming back there would be a new guard and for the time in between she was blissfully alone.
Now she hunted under the open sky letting the full moon light her way. It was her plan to catch anything she could and to leave it buried, it was a waste of prey but she didn't want to bring back any evidence to her clan that she had be wandering at night alone. She would hone her skills and become a great hunter! All she had to do was learn how to catch something.
She sniffed the air but her nose was unused to all the strange smell and all she could sense was the entire forest.
"How am I suppose to do this?" She whined frustratedly, snorting angrily in an attempt to push the scents out of her nose. She walked deeper into the territory, her footsteps heavy and loud. She didn't realize she was scaring anything.
It would seem though she would have a stroke of luck, as she paused to groom herself she heard a loud scuttling noise. Immediately she froze and let her head scan the area, her ears flicking this way and that way. On the ground was a young bird with baby feathers still sticking out of it, flapping helplessly as it tried to fly up back into its nest.
Firepaw crouched down her tail flicking in anticipation as she watched the little creature struggle. She stalked forward then leapt on top of it quickly killing the bird with a bit to its small neck. She purred in satisfaction, "At this rate I'll become a master huntress in no time", She didn't care that she just caught a flightless, injured bird. A catch was a catch and she was going to gloat over it.
She didn't carry it with her though, instead she turned around and lazily buried it before she continued her trek in Stoneclan to see if she could practice on anything else.
