PERSONALITY
Rookpool is a quiet, cautious individual. She often doubts herself, fearing she won't be up to even simple tasks. She is a frenzied worker, and often can be seen tearing about cam and the DarkClan territory. She fears scorn from others, despite being treated well overall. She has a major inferiority complex. Her biggest fear is being seen as lazy. As a medicine cat apprentice, Rookpool has never received an omen from StarClan. She believes that it’s some deeper failing on her part, although she has not confided this in others.
She is curious at heart, and tends to stick her nose in places it doesn't belong out of ignorance. Despite her constant anxiety, Rookpool is light-hearted in a muted way. She is no ball of sunshine. In fact, she’s perhaps one of the quietest cats in clan. But she has a love for learning about the herbs she uses, and the history of the clans. She’s not particularly interested in folklore, but instead bothers the clan elders about the happenings of when they were young.
She is inconsistent with cats she is not close to. She often reads negativity into innocent actions from others, and will act in accordance. One time, she can be timid and complimentary, another, she can be stiff and cold. She doesn't make friends easy, out of fear that something about her will be inadequate in the other cat's eyes. Most of her personal woes are self-instilled, with her warped perception of how others will treat her. Rookpool feels others troubles deeply, but due to her emotional and social paralyzation, she fails to show kindness to others often.
Rookpool bottles her emotions. She masks her insecurities with an aloof attitude. She feels the need to be superficially cheerful or encouraging, but often comes across as sarcastic or condescending without meaning to.
Sometimes, Rookpool regrets her decision to become a medicine cat. She thinks she might have been good at fighting, and since she has not yet received communication from StarClan, what good is she? However, she loves her rank, and would be stricken if forced to abdicate.
SHADEWHISKER of DarkClan - [Sister]
HISTORY
Rookkit and Shadekit were born to Patchflower, a senior warrior. Patchflower’s mate, Blackfur, was a loving parent, and doted on Rookkit and Shadekit. This all came before the threat of the rogues. Rookkit could often hear Blackfur talking loudly in-camp about how amazing their kits were, and overall was a bit of a nuisance. They pestered one of the older warriors into being the mentor for one of their daughters, and explained this delightedly to the both of them.
Afterwards, Patchflower explained that it was up to the deputy and leader who got who as a mentor, not Blackfur. Rookkit thought was pretty silly. Blackfur was her parent, they knew best!
As an apprentice, Rookpaw performed well enough. Shadepaw seemed to be doing better. She already was praised her mentor for her hunting skills. The leader had ended up giving Rookpaw to the senior warrior Blackfur had pestered, to Rookpaw’s delight. But something seemed off to her. The smells of the medicine cat’s den were a lot more interesting than being out among the other apprentices, to her.
One dawn, the camp was attacked by a wid dog. No cat knew where it came from, but it injured many before being chased off, and killed Blackfur. Patchflower and her two daughters grieved, and the next dusk, the medicine cat found a rook’s feather in their stock of herbs. After giving consent, Rookpaw was placed as the apprentice of the medicine cat.
With the absence of Blackfur, Rookpaw lost a lot of confidence. Shadepaw and Patchflower did their best to support her, but they couldn’t take Blackfur’s place. She struggled along. At times, others encouraged her to exercise her body as well as her mind, but Rookpaw ignored them. Eventually, she was given the name Rookpool, after passing her twelfth moon.
Life began to be hectic with the arrival of the rogues. The quarreling of LeafClan and WaveClan didn’t help, and without a well-fortified camp like StoneClan, Rookpool was on edge. She worried about her sister. Shadewhisker often returned with reports of shady rogues prowling the edges of their territory. She’s seen her fair share of injury as a medicine cat apprentice, but she fears she won’t be able to stack up to what a large scale battle might bring.

APPEARANCE
Rookpool lives up to her name at a glance. Most of her coat is black, with sparse white markings. Her fur is short and very coarse. It sheds easily. She’s very distinctive in a group, with her head being almost entirely white. Her right lip is black, as is her entire left ear. Her front paws are white, with just the toes on her left paw being white, but her right paw has a “sock” pattern. The rest of her body is black, except the tip of her tail. The fur on her tail is of the same length and consistency as the rest of her body.
She’s fairly average in size. Her limbs are a little lengthy, but that’s about it. She couldn’t be accurately described as big or small in height. Her slight, if rounded frame gives her the appearance of being smaller than she really is. She is noticeably soft with fat, and is rather unathletic. She often can be seen slipping off of perches as she tries to reach some tucked-away herb.
The outline of her face is rounded, coming to a dainty point near her chin. Her nose is a little wide, and pale pink in color. Her eyes are round, with a barely noticeable upward tilt. They are a harsh greenish-yellow in color. She tends to stare around at everything, giving her a flabbergasted appearance. She has no noticeable scars, as she spent her apprenticeship quietly collecting herbs rather than running about and scrapping.
